#51 - The Pour House - Ft. Worth, TX

Saturday was the OSU vs. TCU baseball game.  When in Ft. Worth you eat at Joe T Garcia's...and if you're not t there when it opens for lunch, you might as well wait until after 1PM, otherwise you'll be waiting in line that long anyways.  The good thing is you can go to the bar  and get margaritas to help the time pass faster.  By the time we got to the ballpark it was about the 2nd inning.  Our friend Paul met up with us, and we had a great time at the game, and even got on TV for about 30 seconds.  Completely unplanned, and we didn't even know about it until friends started texting us.

After the game we decided to go out somewhere near the campus for a drink.  None of us really know a whole lot about Ft. Worth, but Paul said the 7th Street area would give us plenty of options.  It took us about 10 minutes to get down there, but I think it's a little closer to the campus than that, if you know where you're going.  We decided to start at The Pour House.  It's located right in the heart of the cultural district, close to lots of other bars and restaurants.

I immediately liked it as soon as we walked in.  Nothing super fancy, but it looked like a fun place.  A mixture of high top tables, booths, and a big outdoor patio.  There's a big bar in the middle, and a stage towards the back for live bands.  Attached to it is The Garage, a nightclub that's set up like a lounge, with a mixture of high top tables and couches.  We got there about 7, and the place was pretty empty.

As the evening wore on lots more people started showing up.  There was a big UFC fight on, and a band was playing later as well.  None of us watch UFC, but we did because it was on.  Have to admit, I don't really understand the allure of watching 2 people beat the crap out of each other.  But, to each his own.

Finally we decided that we were hungry, so we ordered some food.  I went with chicken Acapulco sandwich
Blackened chicken breast served with avocado, pico de gallo
& smoked provolone cheese
This sandwich was delicious!  I'm always leery about getting chicken breast because it can be dry, but this was really moist.  I've tried to get into the habit of only eating the bottom half of the bun, to save a few calories and carbs.  I loved the pico de gallo on it.  I mean everyone puts tomatoes and onions on their sandwich, but doing the pico just added a different twist to the same old thing.  And the seasoning on it added some extra flavor.  The fries were fresh and hot.

Will I go back?  I really want to use this as our official headquarters when we play down there in 2014.  It's close to campus, it's huge, the food is good, and I think our fans will like it.  So I'll definitely be checking back with them next spring.
